Education
MS, Geology and Geophysics, University of Wyoming, Summer 2013-2015 (Expected)
BA, Northwestern University, 2006-2011 Major: Earth and Planetary Sciences, concentration in geochemistryMajor: Biological Sciences, concentration in physiologyDepartmental Honors, Major GPA 3.5, Overall GPA 3.3*
Research
MS Research, Advisor: John Kaszuba Study of water-rock-CO2 geochemistry with focus on organic compounds and stable isotopes as a means of understanding organic transport and carbon dioxide reactivity in energy reservoir systems; analyzed existing carbon isotope data set from Piceance Basin, Colorado with the aim of exploring the utility of carbon isotopes as a process and monitoring tool for CO2 subsurface injections
Undergraduate research, “Reconstructing pCO2 values during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum,” Advisor: Cesca McInerney Collected geologic samples during month-long field experience in Big Horn Basin, Wyoming; performed stable isotope analysis of samples and used the data set to develop a novel method for proxying CO2 levels through geologic time as a means of assessing current climate sensitivity levels
Relevant Professional Experience
Research Technologist, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc., 2012-Present Preparation of core samples, thin sections, cut and ground materials for physical, chemical and microscopy analysis
Research Technologist, Earth/Planetary Sciences, Northwestern University, 2011-2013 Maintained departmental collections and laboratory facilities; assured safety compliance with university laboratory research standards
Service and Leadership Experience
Student Teacher, Niles North High School, Skokie, IL 2010 Instructed ~80 students using an independently created curricula for Biology and honors level Anatomy/Physiology
Student Leader, Project EXCITE, 2010 and 2011 Led elementary students in a variety of geology-oriented lab exercises as part of a program intended to address the achievement gap associated with students in the local community
Grants and Presentations
Undergraduate Research Grant, Northwestern University January 2011 Presenter, Undergraduate Research Symposium, Northwestern University June 2011 “Reconstructing pCO2 values during the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum”
