Research

My research focus has evolved over the years, sometimes out of necessity, but always with a love of the stars and planets.  My research here at Wyoming is focused on Jupiter’s moon, Io.  I am working with Dr. Robert Howell on modeling the transport of volatiles on the volcanically active surface.

My Masters thesis research at Brigham Young University also focused on Io’s volcanism.  I determined the temperature and eruption style of three hotspots on the surface using Cassini spacecraft data.

My research before that was varied.  I studied the variation of several proto-planetary nebulae while an undergraduate at Valparaiso University.  I also completed a senior research project studying several cataclysmic variables.  Shortly after graduation and for the next 3 years, I worked on two different particle physics experiments, TWIST and the Crystal Ball collaboration.  Both experiments resulted in multiple papers of which 2 of them I was listed as a collaborator.  See my CV for the references.
