Investigating effects of ionic strength on water-rock interactions between hydraulic fracturing fluid and potential hydrocarbon reservoirs. Experiments include month long reactions between rock samples collected from the Frontier Fm. (Powder River Basin) and a generalized saline fracturing fluid.
Research Interests Include:
- Applications of using brackish or saline water for hydraulic fracturing
- Impacts of swelling clays on permeability and porosity of unconventional reservoirs
- Trace metal mobilization in the subsurface
